Ruby Fever – Ilona Andrews
One seldom starts with book 3 in a trilogy, and this book won’t make a lot of sense to readers who try: I assume that if you’re reading this review, you have read the previous two books and are either trying to decide whether to read the third - or just want to know what others thought of it. So I’ll skip the “what is this book about”; it ties up most of the story line started in previous books.
The good: It’s a satisfying happily-ever-after. Most of the dangling plot threads are tied up.
The bad: The writing is mechanical. Something bad happens, and it’s dealt with. Another bad thing happens, and it’s dealt with. Repeat. The format requires that the good guys win with few losses. I read elsewhere that the authors did not enjoy writing this book - and it shows.
The next: An obvious question for junkies is whether there will be a third trilogy for sister number three. Should there be, this book lays some foundation.
