Tunnel Rat: Causing Trouble in Two Worlds – Walrus King
I found this by reading Butcher of Godabhra, which is set in the same universe/s as Tunnel Rat. TR has many of the same virtues as BoG. Think of it as LitRPG with the clunky parts sanded down, or as a progression fantasy that doesn’t let the progression overwhelm the fantasy. Like BoG it tells a story that keeps the pages turning (scrolling?). And I enjoy the way the author casually slips in references to older books, comics, anime, etc. without overdoing.
The characters are weaker than those in BoG. They tend to be defined by their quirks, rather than by their personalities.
