Cast in Conflict – Michelle Sagara

Good: Fun to read, a MS’s books generally are. The writing is at its best when it makes gentle fun of the protagonist.

Disappointing: This book is too similar to the last few books in this series, including the bout of introspection at the end, as the protagonist tries to get her marks to be helpful. There is not much advancement in the story or the characters.

Conclusion: I’ll keep reading these books as they’re written - but this series has been far better, and I hope it returns to its previous heights.
