Temple of the Sun – Benjamin Medrano
I’m enjoying this series. The main character is interesting, and the main supporting character - an over-powered morally-ambiguous over-achiever - is a lot of fun.
TosS is book five of this series, which brings two problems. Readers new to the series will not understand or enjoy it, so this book is solely for earlier readers who are still along for the ride. And this book is more travelogue than story: The party arrives in a new city and we are given extensive descriptions, and then the party arrives in the next city.
Medrano is an excellent story teller, and I will be back for the next book in this series. But the first three Through_the_Fire books were better.
