Angel of the Overpass – Seanan McGuire

I’m glad I read this book. The author knows how to tell a story and tell it well.

It wasn’t as good as “The Girl in the Green Silk Gown”, and not nearly as good as the excellent “Sparrow Hill Road”. Each book in the series is less about Rose and more about Rose’s world. I am a fan of good world building, but I like it best when it sits in the background for the reader to discover. In “Angel of the Overpass”, the story in which Rose goes after her nemesis is crowded out by exposition, in which Rose tells us how her world works - and what she thinks of it.

To end the review where it began - the author knows how to tell a story, and if you enjoyed the first two books in this series (I was going to write ‘trilogy’, but the author leaves that open), you’ll want to read the third.
