Burn Bright – Patrician Briggs
The Wildings are werewolves that live on the fringe of Aspen pack because they are too dangerous or broken to be trusted to live with normal packs. A mysterious cabal kidnaps a Wilding - at great expense, and for a non-obvious reason - and it’s up to Anna and Charles to deal with it.
The writing was competent, but never became interesting or engaging. Briggs is usually better than this. Granted, she’s at a disadvantage: Anna and Charles are less-interesting characters than Mercy and Adam - and the author has not done anything to make us care about the mostly-new cast of supporting characters. I found myself reading the book without caring much what happened to the protagonists. Just as well, because at the end not much happened.
