Beast Business – Ilona Andrews

This novella (plus extras) in the Hidden Legacy series is written for fans. If you haven’t read the earlier books, but think you might like them, start at the beginning, with Burn For Me, not this one. It doesn’t stand on its own.

The novella focuses on secondary characters. Augustine Montgomery is a top-rated illusionist. Diane Harrison is a top-rated animal-empathy-and-control mage. When they work together, Augustine discovers that Diane is a killer, and far more capable than he realized. Diane discovers much the same about Augustine. Yes, it’s love at each sight.

Additional page count focuses primarily on Arabella Baylor, which will please fans of the series. (Arabella looked to be getting her own trilogy, but she was a victim of publishing reality.) This book is written for fans. The authors have fun with it, but don’t push any envelopes.
